Terms & Conditions

Version 2025-01 | Effective Date: January 1, 2025

1. Definitions

"Client" refers to the person making a booking via the Plume Africa platform.

"Supplier" or "Service Provider" refers to any lodge, hotel, transport, or activity operator providing travel services.

"Platform" or "Plume Africa" refers to Plume Africa (Pty) Ltd, the company facilitating bookings between Clients and Suppliers.

"Booking" means a confirmed reservation for accommodation, transfers, or activities.

2. Scope of Service

Plume Africa acts as an independent travel facilitator and booking agent. The Platform connects Clients with carefully selected lodges, transfer companies, and activity providers in Southern Africa.

Plume Africa does not own or operate the services it sells. Each service remains under the responsibility of its respective Supplier.

3. Prices and Payments

All prices are quoted in South African Rand (ZAR) and include applicable taxes unless stated otherwise.

Full payment or a specified deposit is required to confirm a booking. Payment can be made securely via approved online gateways.

By completing a payment, the Client agrees to all applicable Terms & Conditions and the Refund & Cancellation Policy.

4. Booking Confirmation

A booking is only confirmed once full or deposit payment has been received and a confirmation email has been issued by Plume Africa.

The Client is responsible for verifying the accuracy of booking details and notifying Plume Africa immediately of any errors.

5. Cancellations and Refunds

Cancellations are subject to the Refund & Cancellation Policy displayed at checkout and on this website.

Each booking component (lodges, transfers, activities) is governed by the Supplier's own cancellation policy.

For any given tour, Plume Africa applies the strictest cancellation terms among all Suppliers included in that tour, plus an administration fee of R500.

Please refer to the Refund & Cancellation Policy page for full details.

6. Amendments

Requests to change travel dates or names are subject to Supplier approval and may incur fees. If changes cannot be confirmed, the original booking will be treated as a cancellation.

7. Responsibilities and Liability

Plume Africa acts solely as an intermediary between the Client and the Suppliers.

Each Supplier remains responsible for delivering its own services.

Plume Africa cannot be held liable for loss, injury, delay, damage, or inconvenience caused by any Supplier, force majeure, or events beyond its control.

The maximum liability of Plume Africa shall not exceed the total amount paid for the booking in question.

8. Force Majeure

In cases of force majeure (natural disasters, border closures, strikes, pandemics, etc.), Plume Africa will make reasonable efforts to assist clients with rebooking, credits, or partial refunds depending on Supplier recovery.

However, Plume Africa cannot be obliged to refund more than the amounts recoverable from Suppliers.

9. Legal Compliance

These Terms comply with the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act of South Africa.

Clients acknowledge that cancellation penalties may apply and that no automatic "cooling-off period" applies unless the sale occurred via direct marketing (in which case 5 business days apply).

10. Jurisdiction

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.

Any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of South African courts.
